The Varsity Theater

I am by no means a movie critic, I know what I like but that's as far as it goes.  We have a theater in town, the Varsity, and since day 1 of living in Ashland I have been wanting to enjoy a movie at the Varsity.  Probably because I love most anything historical, combine it with the look of retro and add in the small town charm and well, you've got the Varsity. Like so many other theaters, in order to survive and keep up with changing audiences, the one-time grand movie theater has been sectioned into three theaters, two downstairs and the upstairs "balcony seating" is now a theater. I love the Varsity!

Cool theater, yes?!
I finally got my chance to visit the Varsity when we recently saw the movie, Descendants, with George Clooney.  Now as I said, I am no movie critic but I definitely give Descendants two thumbs up and and well-worth the price of admission.

There is so much to do and see and enjoy in Ashland!  Most everyone knows about the fabulous Oregon Shakespeare Festival, but did you know the Varsity is also home to the Ashland Independent Film Festival?  This year the festival will be held April 12 - 16 and of course, we are accepting reservations for this movie lovers event!
