Day Trip - Stop #3 - Beckie's Pie

Alrighty, here we are at stop #3, Beckie's Restaurant.  Crater Lake was awesome, yes?!  Beckie's is the cafe for the Union Creek Resort located on Hwy 62 near the Upper Rogue.  Ed and Cecil Becklehymer (is that a great name or what?) operated the cafe and service station next door, which is now an ice cream parlor. After Ed's passing, Cecil kept the businesses going until her passing in the 1960's.  She was known for her fire red hair and her glass eye and some say she can still be seen in the kitchen making her huckleberry pie!  At least that's what the desk clerk at the lodge told me.

Union Creek resort is listed on the National Register of  Historic Places and offers cottages, lodge rooms, a gift shop and an ice cream shop.  It's a step back in time and for those of you who are like me and cherish "old-school" it just makes you yearn for simpler times, when stopping for a piece of pie was the highlight of your day.  Just for fun, and for old-times sake, forgo the booth/table and belly up to the bar for a slice of delicious homemade pie.  And if you want it Ala mode, just ask!

Beckie's oozes nostalgic charm.
Beckie's is directly across the highway from the Union Creek Resort Lodge.
Seriously?  Who doesn't love pie?!
Apple Pie - an American classic!
Very Berry and very delicious!
Happens every time!
