We are home! The MAG Move - Part II took place on Sunday, July 24, 2011. All of the credit for Part II goes to Abi who hired two strapping young men and coordinated the process of loading/unloading the U-haul; a much smaller truck for this half of the journey by the way. Ever efficient Abi had the guys load/unload according to, #1 what went into the large storage room (we had this built on the property) #2 what went into the attic #3 what furniture went into the main house, #4 what went into our apartment and #5 to which room in the apartment did it belong. Thanks to his organization the 3 of them had us moved within 4 hours, boxes everywhere but we were in. On Saturday, July 30, we turned in our keys to the rental house and began to call our beautiful 1904 Craftsman house... home.

The original house was built in 1904 and somewhere around the year 2000 there was an addition built on to the house. The addition included a 5th guest suite and an innkeepers apartment. Fortunately, it was done so well that most people don't even realize there is an addition. Our apartment is at the back of the house and has a private entrance/yard; but we can also access our apartment by passing through the main kitchen and laundry room. This is a view of the house and garden entering from our parking lot. The first door is the 5th guest suite, the 2nd door is the back door to the main house.
We've done some simple remodeling which included building two small walls, adding a privacy door, painting the entire apartment and new woods blinds are on order. Although we did downsize before leaving San Jose, we have a few pieces of furniture that have been placed in the main house because we couldn't give them up and they don't fit in the apartment, but it is all coming together bit by bit and once we settle in we will be very comfortable. Oh, and very happy!

Our tiny apartment kitchen, but I have an awesome commercial kitchen in the main house,
